Protect Nottinghamshire’s Ancient Woodlands
Amazing! You've helped us raise more than £25,000 to protect and enhance our ancient woodlands
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Protect Nottinghamshire's Ancient Woodlands campaign.
Ancient woodlands are our most diverse habitat, providing a haven for wildlife and places of solace and inspiration for people. Whilst no truly wild woodland habitat remains in the UK, our ancient woods have been nurtured by people throughout the ages. The woodlands have in turn shaped our culture and heritage.
Since the 1930s we've lost half our ancient woodland. But now, thanks to your generous donations, we can protect, enhance and reconnect those that remain in Nottinghamshire.
This appeal may be over, but if you'd like to donate to protect wildlife and wild places across the county, you can do so at our donate page or using the box below.
Support the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust
Using traditional skills, perfected by countless generations, we will maintain and enhance our ancient woodlands for wildlife.
Caring and planning for the future of these wildlife gems comes at a significant cost and increased pressures on these precious places means we must do more. Because of ash dieback disease, we must urgently remove ash trees growing close to paths and boundaries to make sites safe for visitors, before replanting with other native species or allowing natural regeneration. We must also invest more in monitoring to better assess their condition and plan future management.
Thanks to your support we have saved our ancient woodlands from destruction. Together we can ensure that these precious ancient habitats are havens for wildlife and places of wonder for generations to come.
