About the reserve

A small woodland and grassland reserve at the side of the busy Mansfield Road.

The Keeping it Wild team carry out conservation maintenance work on the reserve.

"Woodthorpe Meadow is an urban oasis tucked beside a busy main road where nature blooms and it is entirely managed by our youth group – “Keeping it wild”, who are determined to protect and promote green spaces. Our miniature nature reserve is very peaceful and quant and will welcome you with a warm hug from mother nature." – Lachlan

"Escaping all the urban buzz and located in the city centre, Woodthorpe Meadow is a natural paradise managed by the youth team Keeping it Wild. Having taken ownership in 2018, Keeping it Wild have lovingly poured hours of practical conservation to rejuvenate this charming little natural oasis back to a biodiverse reserve" – Joseph

"Not far from the city-centre is Woodthorpe Meadow, a site where we at Keeping It Wild like to get wild and enjoy the bees, butterflies and birds that make the meadow their home." – Lily

"We manage a small nature reserve in Sherwood, Nottingham by doing lots of practical sessions. We mow and rake the meadow and sow wildflower seeds, and manage the woodland by planting and coppicing trees."

"Woodthorpe Meadow is a sweet nature reserve located in the city centre. It’s a small world to escape into, from the busy town to the peaceful grassland, thriving, full of love and life. Under the protection of the youth group, Keeping It Wild, helps this lush land stays flourishing. Keeping It Wild keep these meadows hospitable to some rare wild flowers as well as some beautiful birds." - Ruth
