Sad loss of the Trust stalwart
We are sad to report the death of our Executive Vice President Ainslie Carruthers.
A diligent and unassuming figure, Ainslie held a variety of senior and influential roles within Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust over a period of 35 years; serving at various times as our Hon. Secretary, chairing key committees and our ecological consultancy EMEC Ecology.
He served two periods on Trust council, first in the 1980's and again from 1998 to 2011.
His dedicated service was recognised in 2009 with the Trust’s highest honour, the Treswell Award and Ainslie was made an Executive Vice President in 2011 as he retired from Council.
His work, often behind the scenes, helped shape the Trust during a pivotal period of growth and his calm manner and methodical approach was a real asset. Ainslie was always thoughtful and well prepared, and his contributions at Council carried real authority.
A true gentleman, Ainslie will be fondly remembered by his friends and colleagues across the Trust and our thoughts are with his wider circle of friends and of course his family at this sad time.
If anyone would like to share their stories of working with Ainslie in his many roles for the Wildlife Trust or would like to pass on personal condolences to his family please contact communications@nottswt.co.uk
