The campaign

The heart of our campaign is the Sherwood Forest Restoration Fund. With your help we will safeguard the heathland, woodland and wetland habitat of the iconic Sherwood Forest, and fund vital research and restoration projects.

The project

By 2020 we aim to restore over 500 hectares of heathland and 2km of riverside habitat in Sherwood Forest.

Thanks to our expertise, built up over fifty years of conserving Nottinghamshire's special wildlife areas we know that we can make a real difference. We already care for key parts of Sherwood Forest such as Rainworth Heath and Strawberry Hill Heath Reserves. With our partners - The Forestry Commission, The University of Nottingham, local authorities, community groups and private landowners - we will restore and reconnect the Sherwood landscape.

We are looking to the future. Our education programmes are reconnecting thousands of young people with the wildlife and history of this iconic area.

We will make every pound donated to the campaign count.

For over 50 years Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust has been working to protect the county's precious wildlife. With the support of its members, it is working to restore and recreate threatened habitats across the county, including in the heart of Sherwood Forest. By supporting your local Wildlife Trust you can help them turn back the clock so that the once great heathlands and oak forests that linked Nottingham to Worksop can be re-connected.
