Not only a long-standing financial relationship – with 2019 celebrating the 5th year of Forest Holidays’ support – the partnership between Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Forest Holidays has resulted in a continued wildlife support network across a considerable area in Sherwood Forest. The entire ethos of a Forest Holiday in Sherwood Forest is centred on renewal in the peaceful environment of a natural forest setting which is rich in habitat and the wildlife this sustains. The location is part of a habitat network, which includes the former Rufford Colliery whose heathland is being restored, plus the Trust’s Strawberry Hill Heath and Rainworth Heath Nature Reserves.
Ben Orton, General Manager at Forest Holidays Sherwood Forest said “By providing our guests with fun and fascinating nature walks in partnership with the Wildlife Trust, we are able to highlight the wealth of wildlife that resides in Sherwood Forest which visitors can experience. Up close encounters with deer and owls are just some of the many highlights guests can enjoy throughout their stay.”
