Organised jointly by the University of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust throughout the day there will be a series of walks and talks that will shed new light on the site’s history, wildlife and management, as well as exhibits including archaeological treasures uncovered during almost a century of sand and gravel extraction.
Attenborough Nature Reserve will host a special event on Saturday November 23rd between 11am and 4pm as part of the UK-wide ‘Being Human’ Festival – giving visitors a chance to discover the hidden corners and secret stories about the site.
This unique event will celebrate the site’s wildlife and provide an insight into how the reserve was shaped and the people who shaped it. There will also be pond-dipping sessions and a self-guided discovery trail for families. Speaking about the event, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Head of Communications Erin McDaid said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the University of Nottingham once again as part of the Being Human Festival. Each year the festival gives us a chance to host something different and to attract new people to the reserve. This year’s theme of Discoveries & Secrets has enabled us to delve a little deeper to give people an insight into some of the fascinating history of the reserve, the wildlife that’s been discovered and possible discoveries yet to come.”
