Beef boxes
Our conservation grazing herds spend a happy and valuable life helping to manage the Trust's nature reserves and habitats for wildlife, and provide a delight for visitors to experience.
As part of a healthy life cycle and in turn providing a small income for their investment, the Trust works with a local butcher to provide a superb service.
Many of our nature reserves require grazing as part of their management to create the diverse habitat that benefits many plant and animal species. Without grazing we could lose fragile habitats such as wild flower meadows and heathland. We have a small herd of Lincoln Red and English Longhorn pedigree rare breed cattle which can be seen at various times of the year on our reserves, especially at the Idle Valley Nature Reserve. Native breeds are far better for the wild type of grazing we use to improve wildlife habitats on our larger reserves. By breeding small numbers each year we help to maintain these rarer breeds and sales of small quantities of high quality meat help ensure our grazing programme is cost effective and sustainable.
Our animals are free to browse and graze on various types of vegetation which results in a beef full of flavour and succulence. Working with a local butcher, it is dry aged for a minimum of 21 days before being professionally prepared, vacuum packed and labelled and is ideal for home freezing.
We are not currently taking orders right now. However, please express your interest in future orders using the form below and we will be in contact. That also goes for lamb.
