We need a dedicated volunteer to help lead our Young Rangers City Group (for 13 – 18 year olds), with support from Laura Bacon (People and Nature Officer – Youth and Community) and other partner groups in the city. You will help to deliver an exciting programme of practical conservation work at a variety of green spaces around the city, helping us to create a new and inclusive opportunity for local young people.

What does the role involve?
As a Youth and Community Volunteer working in the City, you will be working closely with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s People and Nature team. You will also be working alongside our other partners in the city working to protect Nottingham’s green spaces.
You will communicate with Laura Bacon and partners to plan practical conservation tasks for the Young Rangers City Group. With support, you will lead young people in practical conservation sessions as well as delivering tool talks, developing risk assessments and helping with group administration. You will provide support during activities, guiding groups to different locations and taking part in activities and demonstrations.
This role needs someone who can confidently engage with young people, inspiring them to care about wildlife and to engage with their local green space. You will gain experience empowering young people and also have the opportunity to learn about conservation alongside them.

Experience and skills required
- Enjoys engaging with young people and the wider community.
- Approachable and patient, with a friendly personality.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Interested in wildlife and conservation.
- Good communication skills and the willingness to help people.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Experience completing risk assessments.

How much time do I need to commit?
One Sunday per month, plus a couple of hours of administration work each month based at home or at our office. We request that volunteers commit to this role for a least 1 year.
