Guidance Notes

Award Categories 

The categories and criteria to qualify for nomination and on which winners will be selected are: 

Wilder Community Award 

Recognising the efforts of formal and informal groups with the local community making a difference for nature 

Wilder Champion Award  

Recognising the impact of individuals making a difference for nature in their community (Awards will be made in two age groups – Under 25s and Over 25s)  

Wilder School Award 

Recognising the contribution of schools to making space for nature and developing young nature champions 

Wilder Farming Award 

Recognising the efforts of individual farmers and farm businesses making space for nature and embracing wildlife friendly farming practices 

Wilder Business Award  

Recognising the contribution of business, large and small make to protecting and restoring nature within their communities.  

Eligibility 

Applicants or those nominated should be:  

  • Making a difference for nature within the county of Nottinghamshire  

How to nominate 

Nominations can be made online here. Please provide as much information as possible to ensure the nomination can be judged for one of the above categories.  Nominations will be judged on the information supplied on the online form and supporting images/video – no additional material will be considered. Nominations must be up-to but no more than 250 words. Should you wish to make the nomination in a language other than English, please use the same online form and we will use online translation software to read your entry. Nominations open at 6am on Monday 22th April and must be received no later than 11pm Monday 17th June.

Judging: 1st – 15th July 

Winners Announced: w/c 22nd July 

Any nominations received after this time will not be accepted. 

Proof of age, identity and eligibility may be requested. Nominations for individuals under the age of 18 will need permission of the nominee's parents/guardians.  

The Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust (NWT) team may contact the nominator, the nominee (his/her parent or guardian, where applicable) to verify facts and/or events, and whether the relevant consents/permissions have been obtained. NWT may share nomination information submitted in the 250 words with nominees. 

Judging process 

The Wilder Nottinghamshire team will do an initial sift of all entries before a longlist is passed our judging panel. 

A panel of NWT representatives including staff volunteers and a Trustee will review the shortlisted nominations/applications. Those selected for a Wilder Nottinghamshire Award will be notified during W/c 22nd July.  

NWT’s decision re the Awards is final. Whilst we aim to be as inclusive as possible we do not able to engage in correspondence with every individual and feedback as to the merits of a particular entry. If you have any questions or if you have any issues in submitting or completing the form, please let us know. 

Awards will take the form of a framed certificate which will be presented on a mutually agreed date at a mutually agreed venue. No commercial gain can be made from using or referencing the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust brand, the award itself or any other element of this awards process. 

Nominees and nominators must agree to take part in any pre or post-award publicity if required. 

General 

NWT reserves the right to: (i) vary these Rules, including but not limited to, opening and close times of the awards nominations and the award presentations; (ii) disqualify any nomination that breaches the rules, is fraudulent in any way or brings NWT into disrepute; (iii) move nominees into another category should they see fit and (iv) cancel the awards, at any stage, if in its opinion it is deemed necessary or if circumstances arise outside its control. 

NWT, their sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure, loss of data via use of a third-party email platform or malfunction or any other problem which may result in any nomination not being properly registered. 

Persons nominating and nominees will be deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them. 

The promoter of the awards is Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and these Rules are subject to the laws of England and Wales. 

To the extent permitted by law, NWT will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.
