About the event
Spend a relaxing day painting at Attenborough Nature Centre led by Anjana Cawdell. Anjana is a nature inspired watercolour artist based in Nottingham, who loves to paint in a loose, impressionistic style.
The workshop is designed to get you excited about the wonderful medium of watercolour in a small group setting of up to 8, enabling you to appreciate the mindfulness aspect of the practice and equip you with lots of valuable tips to help you with your future paintings. The workshop will focus on the beautiful array of birds that reside in Attenborough Nature Reserve. We will discuss how to analyse a view with an artist’s eye, recognise aspects that contribute to an aesthetically pleasing composition and capture the effect of light on the fauna and flora. Throughout the session Anjana will demonstrate how she would approach painting each view, followed by you creating your own version with personal tuition available throughout. We will provide everything you need including paints, brushes and water colour paper.
The workshop includes lunch and refreshments based in the conference room with beautiful views across the water. All our food is made fresh on the premises using locally sourced ingredients where possible. Our cakes and sweet treats are supplied by two independent, local businesses – Beeston Brownies and Homemade Café. Participants of all abilities are welcome and no previous experience is required. With 48hrs notice, we can cater for most dietary and allergy needs. Please get in touch using the contact form if you have any questions or to inform us of any specific requirements/requests.
