Why volunteer with us?
We welcome you to join a great team, make new friendships, discover nature in unique ways, connect to nature in stunning locations and make a real difference for nature and for people.
We have 100’s of volunteers across Nottinghamshire helping support our important wildlife work. You may be surprised to discover we have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, not just conservation work, to suit interests, skills and your availability.
Whether you wish to volunteer to make connections with people, to learn new skills or to simply give something back, we welcome your enquiry.
Outdoor volunteering
We have regular ‘work party’ conservation volunteering across many of our reserves. Led by our Reserve Officers or lead volunteers, these are about getting stuck in and helping us maintain wildlife habitats, improve access and maintain our sites so they are safe and stunning for everyone to enjoy! These are great way of having a taster at outdoor volunteering with us and tea/biscuits are a key part to any volunteering session.
More specialist volunteering positions are also available outdoors, including volunteer wardens, education volunteers, wildlife watch volunteers and species recording volunteers, see our volunteering opportunities page for more details.
Indoor volunteering
We are always keen to promote our other specialist volunteer roles, particularly within our communications team and within our visitor centres. These can be hugely rewarding and involve opportunities to engage with the public, design and marketing, supporting events, social media and photography.
