On Friday 11^th January the charity will welcome Scottish wildlife filmmaker and presenter Gordon Buchanan to the Pearson Centre for Young People. Gordon, best known for his series including Tribes, Predators and Elephant Families and Me will present Animal Families and Me – tales of challenging expeditions. This is a show for any wildlife enthusiast who wants to enjoy spell-binding stories of the natural world from a man who has experienced danger head on. Animal Families and Me is a unique opportunity to hear personal recollections of Gordon’s globetrotting travels as he delves into his world of weird, wild and wonderful wildlife – all illustrated with his own film footage and photographs. With a reputation for relishing dangerous and tough assignments his tales of challenging expeditions will make for a thrilling evening not to be missed.

Completing a hat-trick of amazing guests will be Simon King, President Emeritus of The Wildlife Trusts, who will visit on Saturday March 16^th to present Call of the Wild – Communicating with Nature. Naturalist, author, conservationist, television presenter and cameraman, Simon has specialised in nature documentaries and has been working in the field of natural history for over 30 years. He has filmed, directed and presented many award winning TV programmes and films including some of the best known nature programmes to have graced our screens including Springwatch, Big Cat Diaries, Planet Earth and Blue Planet.

During Call of the Wild Simon will help the audience discover how to observe wild otter, recognise when a kingfisher is about to appear round the river bend and uncover the signs that deer, foxes, badgers and more live in your neighbourhood. These and hundreds more secrets will be revealed in this distillation of over 40 years first-hand learning in the field.

Speaking about the distinguished guest list Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Head of Communications Erin McDaid said: “Our fundraising lecture series goes from strength to strength and the team have really pulled out all the stops to secure such an amazing trio of speakers for our Nottingham programme in the New Year. Gordon Buchanan, Iolo Williams and Simon King are right up there with the very best naturalists and broadcasters in the UK and we’re delighted that they’ll be sharing their passion, expertise and stories with us in 2019.”

All three events will be held at the Pearson Centre for Young People, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Beeston and close to the bus station and tram stop.

Erin added: “This programme is unique in the region in terms of the quality and popularity of the speakers we are able to attract and we hope that hundreds of people will join us for what promise to be three very special evenings.”
